Overall it was a disappointing experience. First of all, it is in 'that' part of the city where people really don't want to go. I am not sure what is the intended audience of this food street. The one in Gawalmandi (closed now) was a great experience and foreign visitors also went there to dine out. This one is really on the other side of the city and hard to reach driving our way through crowded Bhaatti gate area.

Anyway, there is too little space and it was crowded. Hard to find a table. One has to shoulder sniff on guests who are finishing off their food, hence giving an uncomfortable feeling to both.

So, finally we were able to find a table after about an hour. During the wait time, we tried to go to Cuckoo's but they said they are also full and are accepting guests by appointment only (so they showed they are not part of this food street :-))

Service is poor. Actually poorer than one would expect at such a place. We had to call waiter multiple times to get menu card which was really a photocopy and he had just 1 copy which he was giving out to guests.

Food, yes this was the best part but still lacked the traditional street side touch of Lahore.

And by the time we started enjoying food or may be the environment as well, we saw people around our table waiting for us to get off so that they can sit in :)

  1. Who says that there is recession in this country? First though came into my mind when I reached in front black gate of new Food Street.
My friends were already there for couple of hours. And when I joined them, half were sitting o chairs and rest for looking chairs, strange seen for food points. After some time our people sitting beside our occupied chairs realized that we are staring on their plates ,they finished their meal in hurry, my assumption. Environment alongside the street is good, The great wall of Mosque and newly decorated walls and fronts of houses in the street are giving “View” truly associated to old Lahore.
As we settle down my friend (as he was honorable host)gave order ,I do not how who he came to know the menu items because I didn’t see any formal menu there. Once order was served , every one start chatting infect “pun”, the most important part of our eatery enjoyment.
Just as the hunger pangs were about to unbearable, first episode of “Kababs” and “Chicken Tikkas” were served. For a moment everyone was silent and no need to mention…Service quality was dump ,may be due to unexpected client age. My friend was calling waiter so often ,some time for cold drink and some time he was asking remaining portion. After some wait he told that stock of “Chicken Malai bottee” is over so he has to order fish. At the when we say “Kuch Metha ho jai” people were staring on our plates and there was some confrontation on the way to occupy our chairs already. So we left after paying bill.

    Bad Thing about Food Street
It was mess there..too many people were there and very few options were available. Food quality was just average and service was worst. And I really think that it is not my cup of tea. Too far from main city and not have worth to travel too far.

    Good Thing

It was new and you can go there for once to satisfy your adventure instinct for new eatery. View was nice.

  2. due to the opening there was too much Rush in the street, food options are lesser than old Food Street. Cooko cafe wasnt having the capacity even.
overall looks good. very good job by the Govt of Punjab.

  3. Very disappointing because we have to wait in line for like we are like some starving nation of Africa. Also Govt of Punjab placed a statue of lion which symbolize PML-N instead of Lahore or Punjab. In my point of view these kind of public places should not be named or symbolized with current political entities.
